With all of the uncertainty and fear expressed by those around me, I wanted to create something which would make people smile, even if this only lasted while they sipped their tea and scoffed some waffles.
During my last semester at Falmouth University, my aim was to boost my confidence before entering the ‘real world’ and due to COVID-19, my plan had to adapt and this left me with 15 packets of waffles – a delicacy which sadly, I do not like.
Instead of wasting this delicacy, I delivered them around Falmouth with the hope of bringing a smiles to people’s faces, a tasty treat and a letter of support/reassurance during this isolating and overwhelming time.
At this time, the future seem incredibly unpredictable and with the last few weeks of my degree left, I didn’t want to leave without doing something good for the community. By focusing on the positives, I have seen a community thrive not only from the locals, but also the design industry. If there’s one thing I learnt from this experience is that people do truly care. I couldn’t be more grateful for all of the support that’s been and will continue to be shared - past (and all tenses) Megan couldn't have done it without your support. I hope you’re taking care of yourselves and others – stay strong, we've got this!
'I was very touched by the gesture, and the thought behind it. A timely treat, which given the current context, resonated deeply.  A great example of how a relatively simple intervention can affect change - one magnified by awareness of what it is to be human and how, despite our apparent resilience, we are fragile and so reliant on such acts of kindness. An awakening to the comfort of knowing that at once we are not alone in the world.'
